Blown Engine...

Following on from the Powertrain error codes and a bit of further investigation on an unidentified and intermittent rattle I have had for some time I decided to do a Compression Test. Unfortunately the results were not what I wanted, there was virtually no compression in Cylinder 1 and Cylinder 2. As a result I would need to pull the head and check the head gasket as there was more than likely a failure between the two Cylinders. After me and a mate got the head off what we found was not pretty. Not only has the head gasket failed between Cylinder 1 and Cylinder 2, there was now reasonably extensive damage to the Cylinder wall between the two cylinders. I took a photo of the work below: Now I was going to have to find a local engine shop to take a look before I could assess my options any further...

Powertrain Error Codes...

I was driving a mate from overseas around the city and beaches today. It was pretty hot but there was no real signs of issues with the car. We had been driving around most of the day no problems. Then after a quick lunch somewhere when I went to turn the car on again, I was hit straight away with a Check Engine Light. I quickly loaded up Torque on the head unit and read the codes. I took a photo to show you what I was faced with: I saved them to a file and cleared them to see if they would be triggered again and then drove off. The codes never returned but this will have to be investigated further...

Smashed Curb, Damaged Wheel and Bumper...

Driving to the airport early a few days ago, running a little late to get there in time for my flight, I lost the back end of the car entering the Freeway. Admittedly I had DSC turned off, but there must have been a patch of dirt or oil as I have never had the car break-out and spin around so rapidly on me before. I got out and assessed the damage, luckily it was still driveable, so I continued on to make my flight. Compiled some photos of the damage below: As you can see the rear right wheel has been damaged quite substantially and the rear right panel has a scuff mark from running past a street sign in the spin. Luckily I had seen someone on GumTree selling a set of E46 M3 19" Wheels so I was able to get a replacement pretty quickly. I got some photos of the damaged wheel after I swapped the tyre onto a new one: I am pretty surprised the wheel was able to still hold the tyre and keep air as I drove on it like this for a few days before I managed to pick
